The combination of the withdrawal to the hormones in an "emergency pill" along with the drop in estrogen exaggerated by mid-30's extra-stimulation of the ovary necessary for ovulation, allows for withdrawal bleeding plus pre-ovulatory drop in estrogen to elicit cramps as well as bleeding. If your period is delayed, wait another week, and obtain a serum HCG test to be certain.
