Since pre-ejaculatory semen contains sperm, the "withdrawal method" does not protect against possible pregnancy. Since you may have been ovulating given the timing, if your period is delayed, wait a week, and obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy. The "emergency contraception" pill ("Plan B") is not 100% protective.
