Is a bp of 164/85 danger to a boy of aged 16?

If validated this is worrisome. I would hospitalize such a teen and get the BP under control while looking for a cause. While some older adults can tolerate BP's in that range I have seen it put a teen into a coma.

This is a high reading and should be repeated a few times for accuracy. Avoid excessive salt and inquire about other family members who may have hypertension. Please see your PCP.
