Stress (emotional, work, school) can delay ovulation, which delays the onset of your period. If pregnancy is possible, wait another week and if your period has not started, obtain a serum HCG test to be certain about pregnancy. Your weight is not a factor in the delay. See your gyn physician and ask about low dose oral contraceptives if you are sexually active.

If you had sex since your last period, do a home pregnancy test. If the result is negative repeat the test 4-5 days later unless you get a period by then.
