A member asked:

Why do some people 6 months after the moderna vaccine have no antibodies against the south african variant?

Very individually variable. Some people have antibody that decays over 4 to 6 months, in others it lasts for over a year. Not predictable at this time

The immune system is very complex, and antibody testing merely evaluates a portion of potential activity. Key are B and T cells, and the variety of central memory cells, natural killer cells, complement, and classical humeral and cellular immunity mechanisms, just to begin. We do not yet have the experience with these vaccines to fully assess longterm immune effects or mechanisms, but they WORK!
