A member asked:

Doctors say high risk hpv viruses may be dormant. what could be the reason for being dormant?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

About 80% of the people are able to eliminate HPV, in remaining cases, the virus persists inside the cells. It may or may not be dormant, just that it is not causing symptoms. Many virus remain in the body, without causing symptoms, e.g., herpes, EBV, CMV, etc.
