A "late period" is most commonly caused by pregnancy. If pregnancy is possible, obtain a serum HCG test to be certain. Stress (emotional, job or school related) can delay ovulation, causing a delay in menstruation. If the test is negative, see your gyn provider, as multiple ovarian cysts w/o ovulation can represent polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS).
