A member asked:

Should i take aciclover and valacoclovir together for shingles?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No. Drugs are VERY similar - valcyclovir is better absorbed than acyclovir and therefore is more often prescribed. In general, either drug is only effective if given within the first 2-3 days of onset. After that, is not all that helpful (even though it is often given). Make sure you get the zoster vaccine (Shingrix) after the rash has resolved.
