I just had a laminectamy partial discectomy on my l5 s1 today and my doctor is not managing my pain to a point where im comfortable (im at a 8/10)is this normal or how should i go about getting my pain under control refuses to to give me any pain k?

Your doctor appears prudent and appropriately cautious. Post-op analgesia is designed to provide some degree of comfort, but will not be perfect, and too much could create risk of drowsiness, dizziness, and repiratory depression. Over the next few days, you will start to spontaneously recover, so, try to be patient and work with your doctor.
