A member asked:

I don't have a person family dr but i am going through menopause and no periods anymore i go pee alot more and im always getting a uti is there a certain over the counter medicine or something prescribed that will help treat the issue?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Menopause & UTI: Menopause causes dryness, thinning of lining squamous cells., change in bacterial flora of the area., increasing the risk of infection. I am not aware of any trials to prove the benefits. Moisurize the area with lubricant, drink water frequently if ok, take cranberry juice or pills, take yogurt with active bacterial culture like Dannon. No douches. In addition, please see your gynecologist.
