A 26-year-old female asked:

2 years ago, i was deadlifting and felt a tear in my left lower abdomen. i always have swelling there, especially after eating, using the bathroom, exercising. i still have no appetite b/c i always feel full. ct scan is normal. any recommendations?

Sports hernia: Your injury & symptoms are characteristic of a sports hernia of the lower abdominal wall with or without associated groin involvement. A CT scan isn't as effective as an MRI in detecting this type of hernia. I think diagnosis is a key in managing your case. Severe tears often require surgery. I recommend consulting an abdominal surgeon for evaluation& treatment options if your symptoms are severe
