Irregular menses ? : At 54, the average age of menopause, ovulation is irregular, causing increased ovarian estrogen production, which thickens the lining of the uterus, resulting in bleeding (brown discharge or multiple bleeding episodes, breast soreness). See your gyn physician for an exam, and possible pelvic ultrasound to determine whether biopsy is indicated.
