Wording needs fix: Semen by itself is just organic protein containing fluid material that supports sperm that travel within it. It is not actually a living material. You are welcome to start over if your question is really about the survival of sperm.

Life span of sperm: Semen is composed of sperm and various fluids from vas deferent, prostate, and seminal vesicle. Life span of sperm ejaculated in semen is only 24-48 hours at body temperature. However, sperm can be preserved for years when frozen at temperature below minus 100 degrees celsius.
