A member asked:

Is it safe for me to take ibuprofen for pain if i have iron deficiency anemia?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Ibuprofen: At your age I assume that your iron deficiency anemia is caused by monthly blood loss during periods. Since I don't think you have any gastrointestinal tract pathology I see no harm in your taking occasional ibuprofen for pain relief. Too much can irritate the gi tract and cause bleeding. Iron supplements make stool black as does bleeding in the upper gi tract so don't get confused.
