Irregular period ?'s: At age 46, ovulation is often delayed, leading to extended time between post ovulatory periods. Intervals may allow estrogen stimulation to vary, creating times similar to menopausal levels of estrogen (mood swings, dryness, hot flashes). This may subside when FSH levels increase to produce ovulatory cycles again. Ask for FSH and LH lab tests ordered by your gyn physician.

Irregular: You may be premenopausal or actually menopausal. Elevated serum FSH and LH levels are seen in menopause. Your gynecologist can advise you further.
