Gastroenteritis: The 2 commonest causes of vomiting and diarrhea are a viral gastrointestinal tract infection and food poisoning and neither condition is helped by antibiotics. Treatment would be drinking adequate room temperature fluids including flat ginger ale, a light diet of broth, saltine crackers with gradual ingestion of a soft, bland diet. Taking kaopectate or Imodium to control diarrhea. See MD as needed
