A member asked:

I have a smell that goes away after showering but will come back a few hours later, the smell comes from my inner labia, its a strong musky scent...i also think that my use of soap inbetween that area may be the cause, although the soaps unscented?

Bacterial vaginosis?: The most common cause of vaginal odor is bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria. BV is especially likely if you also have white/dray discharge, if the odor is fishy, or if odor after sex (assuming you are sexually active). No soap causes BV or other odor. At your age, BV is often a sign of STD like gonorrhea or chlamydia. See a doctor for diagnosis and treatment. Good luck.
