Normal male sperm : If the sperm can lead to successful fertilization of fertilize of the ovum (egg) and result in a viable pregnancy, then it is normal. Sperm can be viscous and concentrated and that is normal.

No treatment yet.: Sperm vacuoles have only been recently characterized as higher magnification examinations are being performed prior to fertility treatments such as ivf & icsi. We are only beginning to understand how they affect fertilization & embryo formation. The cause is unknown, & there is no known treatment to prevent this. Vacuolated sperm are now being excluded from ivf/icsi.

Simple: The sperm sample is obtained using several methods most commonly masturbation in a sterile cup. The specimen is given or sometimes mailed to the center where a drop is tested and the rest is frozen. Cost for analysis, freezing and storage for one year is us$ 1000 or less.

A 47-year-old member asked:

Is there a medication that can improve sperm strength?

Dr. Gerard Honore

Do you need to?: If your counts are in the normal ranges you don't need to improve them. If any of 5 parameters is low, which requires a semen analysis, talking with a md familiar with this will be your most efficient and effective plan. There are no medicines, prescription or otc, that reliably improve sperm function.
