Sprain: This is most likely a sprain of that part of the foot or strain of tendon. A fracture of bone would be immediate pain. Pain 24 hours later is always related to the inflammatory response of the body after injury. Ice and anti-inflammatories always help.

Foot: Injury could be many things like stress fracture. Pain is not normal and should see podiatrist even if its not swollen.
