A member asked:

Am i more likely to get pregnant while expirencing breakthrough bleeding. it started on 9/10/20 because i skipped the placebo week of my birth control and the bleeding has decreased slightly. i have been taking bc for longer than 6 months?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No difference: Birth control pills, when taken each day at about the same time, are still working to prevent pregnancy, regardless of whether the withdrawal bleeding is lighter than expected, heavier than expected, or intentionally prevented. However, if the withdrawal bleeding is unintentionally missing, one can check a home urine pregnancy test.
