A member asked:

What are the chances of 2 high blood pressure parents having a low blood pressure child?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hereditary: The commonest type of hypertension, essential hypertension, is considered to be familial but may not develop in children of such patients until young adulthood or in their 40's. If both parents have essential hypertension, the chances of their children developing hypertension is quite high. Such children should maintain healthy weight, low salt intake, avoid nicotine, heavy alcohol & caffeine use.
