A member asked:

What does it mean to have "undetected" results for hpv16 & hpv18, but have detected results for other high risk hpv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Basics: There are 7 or more HPV strains associated with cervical cancer. HPV 16&18 account for the most but there are those others. If 16&18 are undetected it means there is no evidence of a past infection with either. If they detected evidence of other worrisome strains it just means there is evidence of prior infection with at least one of them.
