I talked to a supermarket worker 3 times each time for a few minutes in a store. he was wearing a cloth mask & so did i. he was standing very close to me (1 ft or less than 1 ft) when talking to me. can i get covid 19 if he has it?

Probably low risk: Certainly the worker should not have come so close, and you should have moved away and asked him to step back. However, even if he had coronavirus, since both of you were masked, the chance of infection was very low -- espeically if he wasn't coughing or sneezing. Still, don't let this happen again. Take charge of your own personal space!

COVID 19 concerns: Completely agree with Dr. Handsfield. Some people might worry that they are being rude if they ask the other person to move back or they move back themselves. That needs to be our new normal. The risk you described is not overly high but you need to reduce further in the future.
