Hi. i had unprotected sex 2 days ago and i am bleeding lightly from my vagina. what does this mean? i am also on birth control and have taken them as directed.

Vaginal bleeding: Bleeding after a sexual encounter can arise from cervical inflammation and irritation. Additionally, low dose oral contraceptives if not taken very punctually can result in breakthrough bleeding. See your gyn physician for an exam, as cervical irritation is easily treated by cauterization. Oral bcp's active pills should be taken w/in the same hour as the day's active pill the day before.
