My mom went for a operation and has a drainage pipe in,its her first night at home and fluid is soaking out from the top (where its inserted) it still drains into the bottel but more at the top the gause and plaster is so full its leaking... advice??

Leakage: If you are having that much leakage. The tube may need to be adjusted. I wold let your surgeon know about this drainage.

Drain care: I feel that your best move is to call the visiting nurse association(VNA) and see if you can get a visiting nurse experienced in postoperative drains to come to the house to inspect and/or adjust, reinforce the setup. If necessary the nurse can contact the surgeon , give a report and get specific instructions.
