What percentage of covid-19 deaths are smoking related?

Increased risk : some studies have shown that smoking causes more severe covid disease , partially attributed to the lung damage and the increased levels of an enzyme ACE2 , as well as problems with the immune response. in one study, twice as many smokers needed ventilators, and went on to death , compared to non smokers . in general smokers are advised to quit , to reduce their risk .

COVID 19: In a meta-analysis of studies that included 11,590 COVID patients, researchers found that among people with the virus, the risk of disease progression in those who currently smoke or previously smoked was nearly double that of non-smokers.
