Herd immunity . : Herd immunity is when most of a population become immune to an infection - it provides indirect protection to those that are not immune. https://www.jhsph.edu/covid-19/articles/achieving-herd-immunity-with-covid19.html. If we rely on herd immunity for a novel virus there could be many, many deaths before most people build immunity - if immunity develops from COVID 19.
