Does herpes affect fertility in men or women?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: They remain at their baseline for fertility. However, a baby born vaginally during a primary outbreak has 30% risk of life threatening herpes disease. This drops to <5% with later outbreaks. A c-section prior to labor is protective. Other than the inconvenient & bothersome nature of the outbreaks infected people have families if they choose to.
