No real guarantees: Contagiousness varies among different "stomach viruses" and among different people, so is not easily predictable. However, an exposed person can feel safe if it is 1 week after exposure and one still is well; or one can feel safe if going to contact a stomach flu patient who's been well for already 1 week. If really unlucky, a person can still come down with the illness.

Norovirus: t is possible to shed Norovirus for up to 8 weeks. However, usually a person can return to work or leave the house if symptom free for at least 48 hours or at least 72 hours for food service workers.
