A member asked:

Is it safe for children to visit their grandparents if there are coronavirus cases in the area?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe not: Early data suggests 50% or so of kids infected with covid-19 never show any symptoms but could spread the illness for a week or more if they have it.Having them wear masks & wash their hands a lot helps reduce spread. While most kids seem less at risk the elderly & chronically ill are particularly vulnerable.A Skype visit or visual (across a room) contact (no hugs) would be safer until this passes.
