A member asked:

Should theaters only seat people in odd-numbered rows (skip a row), so we have less chance of catching coronavirus or the flu or anything else?

Interesting Question: The issue at hand is that COVID-19 can live on hard surfaces for up to a week, and that someone can be infected with very mild symptoms and still spread the virus. So.... the real issue is to disinfect hard surfaces between visits, and wash your hands thoroughly without touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Common sense infection control.

Not enough: That would not be adequate for social distancing. Additionally, they should address ventilation and disinfecting surfaces. Once, they do open back up - hopefully they will require that masks be worn consistently .

Agree with Drs F&D: You need to take responsibility for your protection and not just rely on the theater owners. Wear a mask, carry a hand sanitizer with you to sanitize you hands and surfaces you may touch. If the theater is crowded, do not enter or leave if you cannot keep a safe distance from non-family members. Wish you good health!
