Doctor can examine: Ear symptoms and facial sinus symptoms can be from sinusitis, a strep throat infection, a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if symptoms are bothersome, recurrent, or don't go away quickly. The ER can also help in bad cases, such the current case of "terrible" head pain, which may be serious.
