A member asked:

Can u explain what chronic inflammatory infiltrate mean(tongue lesion biopsy result)is it serious?is there treatment?

Basics: Chronic means it has been going on for a while, otherwise not a new issue. Inflammatory just means cells like lymphocytes are there as evidence of the local irritation & swelling. The wording does not specify a cause or treatment. It leaves such issues to the treating doc who ordered the study.

Agree with Dr. F: It means that there was no cancer in the tissue submitted to the pathologist. However, it does not reveal the underlying cause of inflammation. Talk to your doctor who knows more about your health. Have a healthy diet, exercise 30 minutes/day, drink plenty of water, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. For nutrition: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/. Get HPV vaccine.
