A 33-year-old female asked:
In the days leading up to the start of my period (few days to a wk before), i tend to not sleep as well, sometimes have strange/vivid dreams and also experience increased anxiety. i'm assuming due to hormone fluctuations, but which hormones and why?

Hormone ?'s: At 39, your ovaries are producing much more estrogen, and at ovulation and pre-menstrual times, the drop in estrogen can elicit "anxiety/vivid dreams". Ask your gyn physician about low dose oral birthcontrol, which stops ovarian estrogen, and your symptoms as well..if no contraindications, you can take these through mid-50's until "true menopause".
