A member asked:

Hello, i have a question i have a hpv virus, is it true that it stays in the body forever, because some doctors say that it stays forever, and some of them told me that can disappear in few years?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Wording issue: HPV is a family of virus strains that tend to have an initial active period (few yrs) before they go dormant or "hibernate" within an infected person indefinitely. Wart strains respond to direct treatment & rarely but can re-activate. Strains associated with cervical cancer can be dormant for years or decades before triggering the changes of cancer.
