No: Neither the mother's diet nor the father's diet affect the bilirubin level of a baby. If a new baby is full-term and healthy with no blood cell problems, then a common cause of jaundice is just because the natural breaking down of baby blood cells creates more bile pigments than a new liver can process. Usually by age 6 days, a newborn's liver is working better and jaundice gradually fades.
