Maybe. Maybe not.: Chronic diarrhea may be from various conditions, but should not be blamed on dietary lactose unless fully evaluated by a doctor. Most people on this planet lose their lactase enzyme as they age, meaning they cannot easily digest lactose as they get older. Diarrhea itself can "wash away" one's lactase enzyme from his intestinal lining. One can stop dietary lactose while waiting to see his doctor.
