Sounds ok: One can ask her prescribing doctor if there is any problem with cutting or breaking up her birth control pill. In general, birth control pills can be broken up and swallowed as long as all the pieces are taken at the same time (to mimic swallowing an intact pill). Some medications are delayed-release, or extended- or sustained-release, and have special features such that they should not be broken.
