HPV ?'s: Human papilloma virus (HPV) can cause both vulvar and cervical cell abnormalities, and in some strains, can lead to cancer in either. Since HPV is very contagious, it may occur on either the cervix or vulva at different times. See your gyn for exam and biopsy to be certain.

HPV and cancer: The genital types of human papillomavirus infect the entire genital area -- cervix, vaginal opening, vulva, etc. A few HPV types can cause cancer of any of these sites. However, the large majority of cervical HPV infections, even with the highest risk types, do not cause cancer. The chance of vulvar cancer is even lower; it's quite a rare cancer, even in people with repeated HPV infection.
