Exam needed: You should consult your physician. Diarrhea lasting over a week can be caused by a gastrointestinal tract infection more serious than the ordinary viral gastroenteritis or mild food poisoning. A stool culture should be done to check for more serious pathogens. In addition your symptoms may indicate a degree of dehydration.
