A member asked:

I took an ovulation test on october 13th and it was positive and i followed up with a pregnancy test this morning which was negative. is it possible i took the test too early and if so when is the best time to take it?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

After missing period: Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and not affected by foods, herbs, common illnesses, sexually transmitted diseases, or medications. A correctly done urine test gives a reliable result by 3 weeks after sex (3 weeks after when conception might have happened) or 1 week after missing a period. If done sooner, a positive result is likely real, but a negative result may be due to testing too soon.
