Time to see a doctor: Unexpected chest pains means one should talk with his doctor. In younger adults, chest pain rarely can be a heart attack. It more likely is something such as myocarditis, pericarditis, other heart disorders, collapsed lung, costochondritis (inflamed rib cartilage), pleurisy, spinal nerve symptoms, anxiety symptoms, etc... The ER can evaluate, if a patient cannot see his primary care doctor now.
