Can there be any way you can compel someone by law to seek treatment for bipolar disorder?

States differ: States differ in their laws for mental health treatment when the patient refuses it. Some have a civil commitment process that can be instituted if the person is dangerous to self or others, or is too ill to care for self. Check with your state psychiatric society -- they can tell you how such situations are handled locally.
