A member asked:

I have something that looks and feels like a boil. it is painful- its not the first time on the same spot. and it had been drained. do i need to see a doc or is there a way to resolve this?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Doctor may drain it: With a visit to the doctor, a person can get her boil treated. Most boils are treated with drainage of the pus inside. Antibiotics are sometimes, but not always, used after that. For boils that don't look like they are thin enough to lance through the skin, antibiotics may be used to stop the infection... and then a surgeon can remove the "cyst" at a later time. Likewise for a recurring cyst-boil.
