Some thoughts...: In a woman with regular periods, some causes of a late period include: excessive weight loss or weight gain, increased exercising, emotional stress, having an illness, traveling, medicines (like birth control pills), hormonal imbalances, etc… Pregnancy is a common cause of a missed period, if sexually active. A home pregnancy test is very accurate 3 weeks after sex or 1 week after missing period.

Relax.: Being 3 days late is not unusual but may indicate pregnancy. In my experience most of the time a period is missed, if you are not pregnant it means nothing. Most diseases of the uterus or hormones show up as increased bleeding. If you miss your next period, get a pregnancy test or see your doctor or both.
