A member asked:

What's the difference between arthritis and stiff joints? and does arthritis go by it self?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difference: Arthritis refers to actual inflammation of the joint caused by various diseases. Joint stiffness may be one of its symptoms, but joint stiffness can occur without arthritic inflammation as it can be due to sprain or overuse, prolonged inactivity, etc.
