A member asked:

Ive been on birth control well over 9 months and never had any issues. recently i lost a large amount of weight and when i started heavily working out, i began spotting in between periods. is this weight loss related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Weight loss and ocps: Weight loss can certainly affect your menstrual cycle. Birth control pills (OCPs) should be taken at the same time each day. They should still work for you to avoid pregnancy, but they should be used along with condoms for safer sex. If the bleeding between periods persists, please see your doctor for further evaluation.
