A member asked:

Partner tests positive for chlamydia. i have a upper respiratory infection and am on bactrium 875mg 2x daily for 10 days. will that kill the chlamydia infection if i am infected too or do i need to be seen?

No...but: Bactrim is a woefully inadequate antibiotic for chlamydia. Generally a single dose of azithromycin taken all at once is a standard treatment with a few secondary or tertiary meds as possibles.Sometimes the physician treating one partner will call in/prescribe for the 2nd partner in some states. If there is any risk of another STD at any point in this process a visit for a full screening is needed
