A member asked:

I havent pap smear in several years so little overdue but im scheduled now. i never had penetrative sex. how likely is cervical cancer without sex?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Cervical cancer ?'s: The leading cause for cervical cancer is human papilloma virus (HPV) which is very easily transmitted from a sexual partner even "w/o penetration" if genital contact occurs. HPV is treatable, so a pap smear is required to determine the type, as some are more likely to cause abnormal cells to develop than others.
