Period bleeding ?: If you "thought you were pregnant" and this was on the basis of a positive test, a short bleeding episode may not represent a period, but could still indicate pregnancy. If the pregnancy occurs outside the womb (ectopic) , it needs immediate attention. Obtain a serum HCG test to be certain, and see your gyn/OB physician if positive for an exam and testing.
